日経平均が史上最高値をつけ、そろそろ落ち着くのかと思っていたら、瞬く間に、40,000円の大台を超えてしまった。今日の終わり値でも 40,109円になっている。正直なとこ、最近の値動き、正気の沙汰ではないように思ってしまう。
日経平均が上がっても下がっても、株を所有しない私にとっては、どうでも良いようには思うが、株価が上がるというのは、年金財源を支えるものなので結構なこととは思う。年金生活者の年金額が増えることにはつながることはないが、年金財政が安定すれば、将来への安心といった気分を持つことができる。
ただ、長くつづいたデフレが終わり、わが国の景気が良くなってくると、インフレが進むと、わずかばかりの銀行預金がさらに目減りしてしまうというのは困ってしまう。
少しは株への投資というのを考えてもいいような気がする。銀行預金の目減りを避けるための株式投資ということになると、とても個別株の見極めはできないので、上場株式投信（ETF）を検討することにした。

TSMC創業者である張忠謀（モリス・チャン）氏が熊本工場の開所式のあいさつでソニー創業者盛田昭夫との交流を話題にしたという話が、数日前の日経の電子版「TSMC創業者、熊本で明かしたソニー盛田昭夫氏との秘話」で紹介されていた。
この日経記事のなかに、つぎのようなエピソードが紹介されている：
盛田氏はこのとき、張氏にこんな予言を告げた。「あなたは日本で達成する歩留まり（良品）率に驚くだろう」。実際に張氏のもとでTIが立ち上げた日本の工場は、米国工場を大きく上回る成果を上げた。
「（仕事の）文化や人材の点で、日本と台湾は似たところがある」（張氏）。日本での経験は、張氏が1987年に台湾で製造特化のTSMCを立ち上げるきっかけともなった。
このときとは、張氏が米半導体大手テキサス・インスツルメンツ（TI）のIC（集積回路）事業幹部として初めて訪日したときのことのようだ。
これを読んで、当時の日本の製造業の強さの源泉がどこにあったのかを知ったような気がした。

日経電子版(3/2 配信）に「23年の免許返納は38万件 4年連続減少、警察庁」という記事がでていた。
この記事のリード文を以下転載：
警察庁は1日、2023年に運転免許証が自主返納された件数は38万2957件だったと発表した。前年から6万5519件減り、4年連続の減少となった。75歳以上が返納したケースは、全体の約68%を占める26万1569件だった。
私自身は、昨年、７５歳になったところ。免許証の更新をしたばかりだ。更新時には、「認知機能検査/高齢者講習」を受けた。７５歳以上の後期高齢者が一定の違反をすると、運転免許更新時に「運転技能検査」が行われ、更新期間満了時までにこれに合格しないと、免許証を更新させないという仕組みになっている。免許更新時には、高齢者の運転は、社会的には歓迎されないというのを感じさせられる。
高齢者は、こういう「仕打ち」があっても運転免許を返納しないという傾向があるようだ。

日経電子版(2/28配信）で「AppleがEV開発中止か、生成AIに経営資源集中 米報道」とタイトルされたとの記事を読んだ。
この記事、EVをどう見るかという点で興味深い。
日経記事のリード文を以下に掲げる：
米アップルが電気自動車（EV）の開発を中止する方針を固めたことが27日、わかった。同社幹部が開発を担う社員らに対して伝えたという。社外には公表していない。アップルは生成AI（人工知能）の分野に開発チームなど経営資源を集中するとみられている。
また、記事のなかで「EV開発チームのレイオフ（一時解雇）も計画しているもよう」と報じられている。穏やかではない。
